Love and Support Always

In Elementary School we all had a best friend, in junior high and high school too. Maybe we carried that same best friend or maybe we had fall outs and we gained new bffs. Some of us had siblings. Sibling Rivalry is a must! But you always have each others back no matter what. We have our parents or those that are our stand in parents. We have our family and our close friends and our Teachers and loved ones. All who say, I'm here for you. I'm here for you always. I support you. If you ever need anything call me or text me, I'm always here.

Kind and genuine words? Yes! Truth at the heart? Yes! But are they always there? No, not always. And it's not to say that friends or family are not there because they don't want to, but maybe because they simply can't answer the phone or they really are busy with their kids or work. It's not to say that the words they spoke to you were not true, it just means that they mean well but they may not always be able to drop what they are doing and be there. Does it mean they love you any less? I don't think so. At least in most cases. Does it mean that they don't care? No. But it means we are all busy with something. It means everyone has different priorities. It means we all have different obligations. It means all of our schedules are not the same. We don't all have the M-F 8-5 job. We are not always going to be college students. We don't all have tons of free time or consistent schedules or just one job. We don't all have only our cell phone bill to pay. We mostly drop all that when there is a death in the family or a close friend that was like family. That's when all that is no longer priority.

Sometimes, some family and friends choose not to answer the phone. They press the red button. They read the text but don't respond. They choose other things because they can not always be there for you.

But when you get married, you are almost always with that person. You wake up together. You go to sleep together. You are in the same house together every day. You see each other always. You will always be there when the other gets home. You will always see that person at the end of the day. You will always know that someone loves you no matter what. You will always have someone return your text or answer your phone call. Why? Because, loving your spouse is love and support always. "Til death do you part" "For better or worst" "In sickness and in health" "For richer or for poorer" No matter what you have made a vow that you wholeheartedly committed to that you will love and support each other always.

We are learning what it's like to be each others best friend. We are learning how to communicate better in our relationship and how to love each other in new and different ways and how to show each other our love. We are loving and supporting each other always! We each have our families, our siblings, our parents, our best of friends. We know that they love us and would be there and we love them and would be there for them anytime but we know that the word "always" can not always happen. We both do not work an office job. We work in Retail. Where our stores require us to be there as early as 4:30 a.m. to as late as 12:30 a.m. We sometimes will both work nights and sometimes we go days without seeing each other because our schedules are so opposite. But we know without a shadow of a doubt that we love each other and we support each other always. We hear each other out in everything. We work on our communication. We know we mean well and we understand we both have crazy schedules so we can better support each other in that. When a text isn't immediately returned it doesn't mean we love each other less. When a phone call isn't answered it doesn't mean we love each other any less. We know will get back to them asap. We understand that each of us have our obligations at work and we support each other. We know though that at the end of the day we get to say I love you and I am here for you. Knowing we love and support each other always, makes doing life together the best thing ever!

We are grateful for the many resources that are out there to help us be a better Eric and a better Jen and to have a healthy and awesome relationship. We are grateful for all the married couples we have learned from as well and continue to learn from. We are grateful for the love and support our friends and family have given to us. It encourages us to be better. Let us all love each other and support each other in our roles. Let us challenge ourselves to learn different ways of loving and supporting each other in relationships, friendships, or in our families. What does that look like? How can you be a better you? How can you and your loved ones have healthier relationships? We are not perfect at all, and we will never be. But let's never let anyone go a day without knowing in our hearts how much we love and support them.
